National Night Out

Get Out & Meet Your Neighbors!

National Night Out is October 1, 2019

Need a reason for a block party? Plan one for next year and get to know neighbors, local officials and how to fight crime. National Night Out is a yearly nationwide observance sponsored by local police departments to encourage interaction between neighbors as a crime prevention tool. Law enforcement officials also use the event to teach other safety measures to residents. Neighborhoods throughout the City of Mansfield are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the "Annual National Night Out" (NNO) crime and drug prevention event.

Reports from the 2006 celebration noted more than 34 million people participated, representing 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. City of Mansfield Nation Night Out has grown to more than 50 neighborhood parties registered city wide. The City has received national recognition for the combined city wide efforts.

National Night Out GatheringOur Focus

  • Neighbors getting to know and socialize with each other with the goal that the more they get to know each other, the more likely they are to watch out for each other. This would enable them to know what activity is normal and what is suspicious, and to take action. They are encouraged to meet neighbors surrounding their homes by completing forms with contact information.
  • Mansfield PD will ask residents to focus on crime prevention that results in their own neighborhood crime watch. The more neighbors get to know each other, the more they look out for each other. By this, it allows neighbors to share information and will aid in their own crime watch prevention on keeping homes, neighborhoods, and the city safe.
